Mullet with Headlights

Thanks to Susan, I have stumbled on to quite the find! This comes from a list of "Literal Music Videos" from youtube. If you love the song Total Eclipse of The Heart...and I know you do (FYI: Curtis sings it with his eyes closed) then you are going to love watching the "Literal Version" of their video. Warning: do not watch while drinking anything or in a quiet place...and Curtis..try to keep your eyes open or you will miss all the fun. Enjoy!

Meet...Major!

I am very pleased to introduce the newest addition to our transportation family. Ever since riding Alison and Megan's cruiser bikes (honey & bluesy) at Redfish Lake I have been itching to get my own. Tonight on a whim Alison and I decided to go to Al's Sporting Goods to see their cruiser collection and they just happened to be having a sale. I had absolutely no intention on buying a cruiser bike tonight but I could not pass this up when I saw it. Its design is inspired by the old World War II jeeps. Enjoy! From the utilitarian rack to the star bell all the details on this bike are awesome! I can't explain the mystical bond between a cruiser and its owner, I haven't even experienced it until tonight, but I hope each of you gets the chance to live it someday. I look forward to introducing it to Bluesy and Bruiser very soon!

You Know You're A Dork When....

Everyone has those moments in their lives when their little bubble pops and they realize that they are probably a bigger dork than they previously thought. Whether its when you find yourself with the exact same disney pin collection as the 8 year old girl in line behind you in Fantasy Land, or when you catch your reflection in the move theatre line and see optimus prime staring back at you from your t-shirt, or even when your bedside table houses a firearm...an alarm clock...and hydrocephalic stuffed tigger. You all know the moments of self awareness that I mean.
Well...last week the universe not so subtly reminded me that I have permanent residency on planet Dork. While picking up some movie treats for a Friday night soiree I saw a big bag of Mini M&M's. I bought them on impulse and couldn't get enough of them that night! So when Monday came around I went to Lee's Marketplace to buy more. When I arrived at the store the tell-tale light blue bag was nowhere to be found. Instead of acting like an adult and going home to do more important things I went to the customer service desk and asked if they had any in the back that simply hadn't been put out on the shelves yet. After a skinny stock boy came back several minutes later empty handed I proved my extra strength dorkiness by asking them if they could order me some from their distribution! They agreed to and took down my name and number. In the next few days Lee's Marketplace will have a solitary bag of Mini M&M's delivered to their store by a confused delivery man and then they will call the biggest dork in the world to come get his candy. The best part is that later I remembered that I had actually gotten the first bag from Smith's. When my bag comes to Lee's it will first one that the store has ever had in stock.
Please share your own dorky epiphanies with us here in Paul's Basement. Remember that you are among friends who will not judge you and who probably realized that you were a dork way before you did.

"A lot of people go to college for seven years."

While I should have received a doctorate in philanthropy for all of the tuition I donated to the lost cause that is the Utah State football team I only received a couple of bachelors degrees. Although, as evidenced by my mug in this picture, I couldn't be more pleased to be holding an empty portfolio. The actual diplomas were left on my doorstep two days ago! I am officially a college grad. Thanks to everyone for their support. I would especially like to thank my patient wife Alison and our BFF's Curt and Meg for not disowning me when I had to sell my soul to the library. You guys are the best.

Better Luck Next Time History!

Sometimes I would like to visit Dwight's alternate universe if only for a day. Although some may say that Curt and I each have vacation homes there.

"Somebody please tackle me!"

For those that missed this athletic feat and wanted to know what he was thinking during those 100 hundred yards. Enjoy!
